After a tasty full English breakfast, we headed to Chapel. The message was about thinking of others, more specifically, about Matt Campbell (the MasterChef star who tragically died competing in this year’s London Marathon) and how we could help his cause. We donned our walking gear and packed a picnic and headed off in to the Somerset countryside to walk 3.7 miles – in support of #FinishforMatt.

We started our walk in Montacute and headed into the woods, towards St Michael’s Tower. The children walked just over 5 miles in total. They were fantastic company and really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and pace of a Sunday walk.

I want to share a very touching moment on the walk. One of the little girls was finding the walk challenging until one of her friends swooped in to help. What I saw next was very moving - they held hands, chatted away and laughed all the way back to the lunch spot. It was truly a heart-warming sight…we can learn so much from children! I felt very humbled by it all. It was one of those moments when I feel so blessed to be able to work and live with children, especially in a boarding environment.

After our picnic lunch, we headed back to school for letter writing and afternoon activities. Before supper, we rested our weary legs in the theatre, watching a popular choice, The Greatest Showman. After the film, roast beef awaited us.

The children made us all very proud today; they embraced the message from the morning and walked with charitable spirits; it was a very uplifting and inspiring day indeed.
