Year 3 enjoyed the most perfect day at Montecute House. The sun shone which made the day even more magical. The children felt that they had stepped back in time and enjoyed hearing about Lord Phelips who built this beautiful home to enjoy in the holidays with his family and friends over 400 years ago.
The children were offered a range of exciting activities, either to draw miniature portraits of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, make lavender bags and explore herbs and spices used in the kitchen or create a badge with a cote of arms.
The children asked very impressive questions and showed off their Tudor knowledge as we were shown around the house.

A beautiful day, full of happy memories.

“It was great fun making spice bags! We filled a small bag with lots of different spices which spelt lovely. They had these because the smells in the Tudor period would be awful! ” Flo

“We were able to explore the house and gardens. The gardens were especially lovely to sketch because they were very beautiful!” Marcus
