Summer Term Geography for Upper School

Year 8

This term, Year 8 are visiting Reeds Coffee in Sherborne. This helps us shine the spotlight on the coffee industry, as part of our work on economic activity.  It will be good to think about why the raw coffee beans are grown in Brazil, Guatemala and elsewhere, how they are transported to the UK, where they are sold, and how a business thinks about its target market. To prepare for this, we will be looking at what causes other industries to locate where they do and link it to the work we have already produced about Apple, thinking about why most of their products are assembled in China and how the raw materials and finished products are transported.

 Year 7

The best way to learn is to teach others!  That is why Year 7 will be teaching younger children this term in Geography.  To prepare, we will produce resources that will both aid our own revision of plate tectonics, ready for the in-class assessments in Week 3 and Week 4, and help us teach the concepts to Year 5 as well.
