Year 4 at the mercy of a Victorian school inspector...

Year 4 at the mercy of a Victorian school inspector...

Year 4 immersed themselves in different aspects of life in Victorian times during our Victorian day. Arriving in costume, they soon found themselves at the mercy of a school inspector in the schoolroom, facing lessons in recitation and mathematics that were very different from ours.

They were surrounded by artefacts from the past, including slates, dip pens and ink and a working model of a steam engine. Playtime was fun as they played with Victorian toys such as metal hoops to bowl along, kaleidoscopes and a fiendishly difficult ball and cup game. The afternoon was spent being detectives, looking for clues to discover the use of some extraordinary looking tools and implements, with the favourite being a rather vicious rat-catcher!
