Monkey mayhem for the boarders...

Boarding

We woke to bright sunshine and the smell of a deliciously traditional English cooked breakfast wafting gently towards the boarding houses - what a start to the day. Then we were off to chapel with Mr Beverley who led us for an inspiring chapel on the difference between being wise and foolish.

It was then straight to the minibuses and the convoy of Hazlegrove monkeys set off to South Dorset to hook up with some real primates! After a beautiful drive through the winding lanes of Dorset we arrived at Monkey World! Off we went in groups exploring this huge park with chimps, orangutans, spider monkeys…… A big favourite was Lulu who had lost an arm in unfortunate circumstances but could still swing from the trees with best of them. Lunch was wolfed down and then we made our way to the most enormous adventure playground. Huge fun as everyone tried out their monkey moves, none quite as enthusiastically as Miss Milne! Then it was back through the park, taking in the Lima enclosure where we roamed amongst the limas, no cages separating them and us!

Next we trooped back to the buses and we were soon home. A delicious mug of hot chocolate and then off to letter writing. Finally, some enjoyed a swim while others ran around in the sunshine before a delicious evening roast.

A huge thank you to Mr Shaw for all of his excellent organising and everyone for their excellent company.
