A Weekend Full of Festivities and Fun For Our Boarders

What an eventful, fun-filled term it’s been for our boarders, culminating in our ‘Christmas In’ weekend!

On Saturday night, the children, dressed in their finest, were ushered into the dining hall, ready for a meal that top-tier restaurants would envy. Once we had savoured our three-course meal, Mr Birch and Miss Rudd led us in ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’, complete with actions! The evening concluded with our annual Scottish Dancing, which everyone had been rehearsing throughout the term. The standout dance was undoubtedly the ‘Hazlegrove Reel’. Thank you to Mr Halford-Macleod for his wonderful instruction on the run up to the weekend!

Sunday morning began with a hearty English breakfast, followed by Christingle crafting. Each child created their own, in preparation for our special Christingle service in the evening. As is our Sunday tradition, the children then penned letters, brimming with anticipation for the Boarders’ Feast and the activities to come. A diverse array of engaging activities was then presented for the children to select from, including Zorb balling, laser tag, gingerbread house crafting, Christmas crafts, and slime making, among others. After a bustling morning, the children enjoyed lunch and a rest period, gearing up for the afternoon’s ‘Crazy Christmas Team Challenges’. Teams of children competed in various sports hall activities, each eager to claim victory. At four, a well-deserved rest was taken, and the children pottered back to their boarding houses for a cosy Christmas movie.

In the evening, Mr Farquar led our Christingle Service. It was a moment for the children to reflect on their gratitude for the term and to remember the true meaning of Christmas. For supper, the children were treated to a Sunday roast and then returned to their houses to finish their Christmas movies. It was a bustling weekend, filled with joy and merriment. We extend our warmest Christmas wishes to all our boarders and their families.
