Even the no-show snow didn’t dampen our spirits for our final weekend together for 2017. The children were on fantastic form. It was Hazlegrove at its very best – lots of fun activities, scrumptious food, fellowship and dancing!

Saturday saw the children enjoy activities in the pool, the woods, the art room and the sports hall. This was all a distraction really, as the main highlight and excitement was the Boarders’ Feast and Scottish Dancing in the evening. After a final dance practice at 4:30pm, the children dashed off into their Houses to transform into little ladies and gentlemen!

The evening’s festivities kicked off with the Year 8s joining the teachers for drinks in the Front Hall. Soon after, we were played to in to the Dining Hall by Mr Pyke on his bagpipes. The evening was full of fun and laughter and of course, the traditional “12 Days of Christmas” led by the lovely Mrs Cran. After our delicious meal, we headed off to the Sports Hall for Scottish dancing, produced, directed and choreographed by…Mr Robertson! The children were on fire and made us all very proud.

Sunday saw us wake to a rainy morning but this did not deter us as we were still full of the joys from the previous night. The children immersed themselves in arts and crafts (Christmas-themed of course), biltong making, baking, swimming, cooking damper-bread in the woods, laser shooting, indoor football, karaoke, as well as a shopping trip for the Year 8 girls.

The end of the day saw us gather for our Christingle Service which we held in a darkened theatre, by candle light. It was a special service and the children really embraced the message of the service.

Lights were out early on Sunday evening for all of our boarders and they will, no doubt, be raring to go again on Monday morning. We will see you all at Wells Cathedral (or back at school) on Thursday morning.
