A great start to the Spring Term for the boarders

Boarding

"If at first you don't succeed, try and try again." This phrase coined by Robert the Bruce of Scotland summed up our In-Weekend.

After a hearty breakfast and wonderful chapel by Mr Shaw all of our boarders were split up into ten teams, comprising of pupils from Year 3 all the way to Year 8, to compete in the Hazlegrove Team Challenge. Each team had a leader and made their way round the school to various locations, trying to get as many points as they could for each activity. The 10 activities on offer ranged from the Woodland Drainpipe Challenge to the Human Body Construction task. It was amazing and very heartening to see all the teams get into the spirit of the occasion - really encouraging and supporting their teammates. The effort and determination shown by the children was simply astounding. The Year 8's led by example and the camaraderie and sportsmanship shown by the children was a joy to see. Probably the most satisfying part of the day was seeing how seamlessly our new boarding pupils slotted into the community. Our boarders are very welcoming and inclusive and this is part of what makes Hazlegrove a very special school.

After the hustle and bustle of the morning, the Year 8's enjoyed a scenic trip to Montacute House. After perusing the fine Tudor architecture, they were treated to a cream tea which went down very well.

The rest of the boarders stayed onsite and made use of our wonderful facilities either relaxing in the art room, taking part in a Nerf war in the sports hall, enjoying a leisurely swim or just riding their bikes.

What a great way to start the Spring term, having fun with your friends and creating special memories.
