Academic General

Four eager Hazlegrove Mathematicians competed in the Bryanston Year 6 Maths Challenge yesterday. The gruelling three hour maths marathon comprised of three distinct challenges designed to test their mental arithmetic, problem solving and team work.

56 teams entered the competition, representing 28 different schools. Tom P and Isaac B were our stars in the ‘Nonagon division’ (which was the slightly stronger group) and Donald C and Monty P-P were our champions in the ‘Hexagon division’. All four mathematicians did incredibly well and I was thrilled to see how hard they all worked. It came down to very last question in the last challenge but in the end Tom and Isaac managed to come first equal in the ‘Nonagons’ with an unprecedented perfect score in all three events. Donald and Monty also rose to the superbly challenge and came second in the ‘Hexagons’.

It was an extremely exciting and nail-biting afternoon of maths and all four boys were excellent mathematical ambassadors for Hazlegrove.

Very well done boys!
