Maths Fun for the Year 2s
This week, the children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful wordless book Flotsam by David Wiesner. With no words to guide them, they used their imaginations brilliantly to tell their own stories, making thoughtful predictions and sharing creative ideas about what might happen next. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they discussed the illustrations and produced their own imaginative pieces of writing and artwork inspired by the story.
We have been focusing on positional language this week in maths, and the children have loved putting this into practice through fun and practical activities. They have been using words such as above, below, next to, behind and in front of to describe the position of objects, demonstrating a great understanding in both their speaking and written work. It has been lovely to see them applying this new vocabulary so confidently in their learning.
