We understand that, due to the situation in the Middle East, an increasing number of families are considering the possibility of a short-term school place for their child, including for the summer term. This is not a situation that families or schools would ever wish to find themselves in, and we recognise that such decisions are often complex and deeply personal. Our aim is simply to support, where it is helpful to do so, by making the process as clear, straightforward and reassuring as possible.
To that end, we are offering a ‘Hazlegrove for a Term’ option for both day and boarding families. This is available to any family who may be exploring a short stay at the school and is designed to offer clarity and flexibility at a time when both are especially important. If you feel this may be of interest, please read on to find out more.
Why Hazlegrove?
Nestled within 200 acres of Somerset countryside, Hazlegrove is a leading co-educational boarding and day school for children aged 2-13, offering a varied and vibrant curriculum, a family ethos and exceptional pastoral care.
Within easy reach of the London airports (around 2 hours) yet in a glorious countryside location, Hazlegrove is all about community and our location and the number of residential staff feed our sense of being a village in our own right. We are always proud and inspired by pupils embracing our school values of kindness, respect, integrity, grace, generosity and courage, and there are plenty of examples to shout about – from pupils looking after each other in the boarding houses, to performing on stage in various events.
We pride ourselves in our outstanding pastoral care, applying a proactive rather than reactive approach, and every member of staff, whatever their role, is involved in supporting the children. Our greatest desire is to provide as many opportunities and experiences for each child in a family focussed environment.
For pupils joining us for a short stay, we aim to provide:
- A welcoming and inclusive school environment for both day and boarding pupils
- Strong pastoral care, with a focus on wellbeing and reassurance
- A structured academic programme to support continuity
- Flexibility, recognising that plans may need to change
Above all, we want each child to feel safe, supported, and able to settle quickly into school life.
