As part of their History unit on inventions, Year 5 learnt about how humanity has solved the problem of creating light over the millennia. They examined light bulbs, candles and oil lamps, from the mid‑19th century back to 5,000‑year‑old Ancient Egypt, all attempting to answer the same challenge: how to create light in the darkness. Who knows how humanity might continue to illuminate the future!
