Year 4 Experience WWII
Year 4 had a fantastic World War II Experience Day in school, packed with engaging, hands‑on workshops. The day began with an exploration of evacuation, where the children examined a range of sources — including original photographs, footage and artefacts — to understand what evacuees might have packed in their suitcases and why. They then brought history to life by role‑playing the experiences of children who were evacuated during the war.
Throughout the day, pupils rotated through a variety of exciting activities, including learning about rationing, exploring Anderson and Morrison shelters, cracking secret codes, and designing propaganda posters. It was a memorable day that deepened the children’s understanding of life during WWII in a fun and interactive way.
