Year 2 Are Inspired by Grace Darling

This week, the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the inspiring life of Grace Darling. We explored her heroic actions and discussed what makes someone a heroine and famous. The children then used this knowledge to write about her life, focusing on using clear sentences and interesting vocabulary to retell her story. We have also been developing our understanding of time, practising how to work through the hours in a day and learning the difference between a.m. and p.m.

The children have been building confidence in talking about daily routines and placing events in the correct part of the day. During our Science lesson, we took our learning outside with an exciting science walk around the school grounds. The children enjoyed observing their surroundings closely and identifying different places that minibeasts could live, encouraging curiosity and discussion about the natural world. It has been a busy and engaging week, and the children have approached their learning with enthusiasm and curiosity!
