Year 7 Maths Competition at Sherborne Girls

On Monday afternoon, four brave Year 7 mathematicians from Hazlegrove ventured across to Sherborne Girls to compete in a new maths problem‑solving competition.

The event was divided into four rounds designed to test both their mathematical ability and how well they worked together as a team, as well as how they adapted to a range of unfamiliar mathematical and logical puzzles. Some of the initial questions were easy enough, but they quickly became much harder and, by the end, the questions were very stretching. It was wonderful to see how sensibly our team applied themselves, showing real determination and imagination, and how well they worked together.

It was a gruelling two hours of maths, but our intrepid mathematical ambassadors did us really proud.
