Year 8 Showcase 2026

Mr Joel Baker:

The art department was buzzing on Friday evening as pupils and their families gathered to enjoy a vibrant exhibition of Year 8 work.

It was a real pleasure to celebrate the creativity of this cohort, with every pupil contributing original pieces to the display. Over the past year, they have explored a wide variety of media, developing their confidence and versatility. From drawing and printmaking to collage and sculpture, their work reflects an impressive range of ideas, techniques, and personal expression — Very well done, Year 8!

Mr Paul Curran:

As part of the Creative Showcase on Friday evening, Year 8 pupils presented an impressive selection of their Design & Technology work.

The display featured a range of both current and previous projects, including the hardwood and softwood Keepsake Box, the ever-popular Nodding Dog message holder, innovative graphics packaging designs, and this year’s new addition — the HZG Reading Lamp. Visitors also had the opportunity to view examples from DT Scholarship portfolios, highlighting the depth of skill and creativity within the group.

Mrs N Sclater:

Year 8 musicians rose to the occasion on Friday evening, performing with confidence and flair in front of an appreciative audience of parents, staff, and peers. It is always a pleasure to witness the delight and surprise of friends who, in some cases, are hearing their classmates perform for the very first time.

The standard of the performances was exceptional, showcasing not only musical ability but also years of commitment and perseverance. Each musician demonstrated a level of maturity that will undoubtedly serve them well as they move on to senior school.

Bravo, Year 8!
