Nursery Create Dandelion Playdough
We have also been busy developing our fine motor skills by making dandelion playdough. The children used their “funky fingers” to carefully pick the yellow petals from the dandelions before adding them to the mixture. As they played, they noticed the dough gradually turning yellow—much to their delight! During our Dough Gym sessions, the children rolled, shaped, pressed, and stretched the playdough, helping to strengthen the small muscles in their hands that are so important for early writing.
At snack and mealtimes, we continue to practise good table manners and encourage the children to follow simple instructions, such as using cutlery and waiting patiently. As we like to say, “Mrs Field is not an octopus”—she only has two hands!
We were also very pleased to welcome back Tortellini the tortoise, who has been helping the children settle into the classroom. His calm and mesmerising presence provides a gentle distraction and inspires lots of awe and wonder.
Finally, we had our first Sports Day practice during outdoor PE. It was wonderful to see the children taking part with such enthusiasm, trying their best, and supporting one another.
