On Wednesday morning 125 brave mathematicians from Year 6, 7 and 8 pitted their mathematical wits against the Junior Maths Challenge – a popular national maths competition, organized by the UK Mathematics Trust. The challenge consists of 25 really tricky multiple choice maths word problems that test the children on wide range of maths topics – considerably beyond the parameters of the maths syllabus. The results will be out in a couple of weeks but, come what may, I was extremely proud of the determined effort they all made.
