Our Brilliant Boarding In-Weekend

Boarding at Hazlegrove Prep School continues to offer an enriching and vibrant experience, and this recent “in” weekend was a perfect example of its warmth and variety. The day began in the most comforting fashion, with a delicious full English breakfast that brought everyone together, setting a relaxed and cheerful tone for what lay ahead. This was followed by Chapel, thoughtfully led by the ever‑inspiring Mr Shaw, which offered a moment of reflection and calm. Pupils then moved on to letter writing before the activities commenced.

The breadth of activities on offer throughout the day was truly impressive, ensuring that every pupil could find something to ignite their enthusiasm. From the focus and discipline of cricket nets and tennis tournaments to the exhilaration of go‑karting and football, there was a wonderful balance of sport and recreation. Others embraced creativity through summer crafts and face painting, while woodland games provided opportunities for exploration and teamwork in the natural environment. A particular highlight for some was the Year 8 girls’ trip to Yeovil, which added a sense of independence and excitement to the weekend. Lunchtime was a delight, with bagels and fresh salads enjoyed outside in the glorious sunshine.

The afternoon continued in much the same joyful spirit, with pupils returning to the fields to immerse themselves once again in activities, laughter and companionship. The golf course was open, and boarders were enjoying the slip‑and‑slide. The sense of camaraderie across the boarding community was palpable, culminating in everyone coming together for a much‑anticipated treat from the ice cream van. The day, blessed with beautiful sunshine, was rounded off with a delicious roast supper, providing a comforting and convivial end to a thoroughly enjoyable day. Weekends such as this encapsulate the very essence of boarding at Hazlegrove: a rich blend of activity, friendship, care and memorable shared experiences.
