Nursery Are Learning to Look After The Planet

The children returned full of excitement and stories about their holidays, with lots of news about chocolate eggs, Easter bunny visits, and special family celebrations!   We are delighted to say that everyone has settled back into Nursery beautifully. The children have quickly returned to their routines, enjoyed seeing their friends again, and have been busy exploring all of our planet earth activities.

The children have especially loved chatting together during circle time and listening to one another’s stories. It has been lovely to see their confidence and friendships shining through.

After reading the story Dear Earth, the children had a wonderful discussion about looking after plants. This naturally led to a conversation about recycling, and the children were very excited to share their own experiences of recycling at home.

We have made a new recycling bin in the classroom especially for paper, and the children have been keen to help make sure it is used properly.

We have also introduced a special daily role: our Plant Monitor. Each day, two children are responsible for helping to keep our class plants happy and healthy. Their jobs might include watering the plants, singing to them, drawing them, or even measuring how much they have grown.  Having these responsibilities helps the children to build pride and independence, while also encouraging a love of caring for our planet.
