Year 2 Take on Measuring Challenges

This week, the children have been having great fun exploring measurement. They have been busy comparing and ordering lengths, using rulers and non‑standard units, and working together to solve practical measuring challenges. The children particularly enjoyed investigating objects around the classroom and discussing which were longer, shorter, or the same length. Their enthusiasm and accuracy are really growing!

In English, the children have been developing their creativity by independently innovating the story of Rumpelstiltskin. After learning the traditional tale, they planned and wrote their own imaginative versions—changing characters, settings, and magical elements to make the story their own. It has been wonderful to see how confidently they are experimenting with ideas, using descriptive language, and expressing their individuality through storytelling.
