Year 1 Work on Place Value in Maths

This week, Year 1 have loved diving into the classic tale of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. The children have enjoyed retelling the story using actions, bringing the characters and events to life with wonderful expression and enthusiasm. It has been a joy to see them immersing themselves fully in the story, confidently recalling key parts and joining in with repeated phrases.

In Maths, we have been working with numbers to 50, practising counting forwards and backwards and building an understanding of place value. The children have been exploring how numbers are made, using practical resources to help them see the tens and ones clearly.

During Art, Year 1 have taken inspiration from Paul Klee, creating beautiful watercolour paintings of houses in his distinctive style. They experimented with shape, colour and pattern to produce some truly eye‑catching artwork, well done, Year 1!
