Jungle Adventures Continue in Nursery
What a fantastic week we’ve had continuing our Jungle topic! The children have shown so much enthusiasm, especially for our slithery snakes and our gentle giant elephants. Their knowledge and understanding of where elephants and snakes live, how they move and their unique features also extends their vocabulary and the children can demonstrate curiosity in asking questions.
Our class jungle has been enhanced with the children’s feathered parrots, collaborative elephants , bubble wrap snakes and our Elmer collage. Elmer has sparked conversation about our similarities and differences and introduces the important theme of tolerance for all, and diversity.
We welcome two new members to the nursery class, Gary and MiShell who are both baby African Land Snails . They have been teaching us facts about snails: they only have one foot, no ears and live in hot, wet jungles . We have made them a jungle in a box, and the children tip their snack peelings in to enable Gary and MiShell to make compost for our planting. You would not believe the learning opportunities two snails bring, along with respect for animals and awe and wonder!
