Boarders Make the Most of the Go‑Kart Track

To borrow a sporting analogy, this weekend really was a game of two halves, full of flair, determination and the occasional moment best forgotten (including Mr Froggatt’s pockets full of mud from the go‑karts!).

The morning began with a packed fixture list. In the kitchen, our bakers were hard at work producing batches of cookies that would have been worthy of a handshake from Paul Hollywood. Alongside these triumphs, there were a few more experimental bakes that may not make the highlights reel, but effort and enthusiasm never dipped.

Elsewhere, the Design and Technology rooms were buzzing with creativity. Key rings were crafted, long‑running projects finally reached completion, and free builds demonstrated how imaginative our boarders can be when given the space to create.

Out on the go‑kart track, conditions were far from ideal, but rain and fog did not stop play. The wet weather turned the circuit into a real test of control and composure. There were some excellent driving skills on display, mixed with a generous helping of questionable steering and dramatic spins. After the twenty‑third go‑kart rescue, Mr Froggatt emerged looking more mud than man, having battled the elements to keep the racing going. A roaring campfire with S’mores provided a welcome chance to regroup, refuel and warm up before heading into the second half of the day.

Lunch was a clear crowd favourite, with plates of ham, egg and chips enjoyed by all. Free play followed, with art room activities, hockey, and various “out and about” options on offer, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy themselves at their own pace.

We closed the day with letter writing and chapel, led by the wonderful Reverend Bev, who provided a calm and reflective ending to the day.

Our boarding community proved once again that, despite the efforts of the elements this weekend, come rain or shine, nothing gets in the way of our fun.
