Year 8 Study Suffrage Movement
Year 8’s study of the suffrage movement has included a case study of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, the first female doctor in the UK, who qualified in 1865 and overcame many difficulties to achieve her dream of working as a doctor. Pupils looked at some of the equipment a doctor would have used in the Victorian period and saw the similarities and differences between modern plastic syringes and an antique glass syringe with reusable needles.
