Reception Play 'Whose Shoes'

The 'Clippity clop' of high heels and 'Thump! Thump!' of boots could be heard from the Reception classrooms this week. Linked to our focus story ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker’, the children have enjoyed spending money and giving change in our class shoe shop. It has been wonderful to see them designing their own shoes, adding elaborate buckles and colourful ribbons in the workshop. In maths we have been measuring and comparing our feet, using cubes and learning the importance of measuring accurately. We have also enjoyed spotting groups of objects and matching these to numbers.  On Wednesday we thought about our wider community when we played ‘Whose shoes?’ where the children were able to try on sparkly heels, army boots, roller skates and ballet point shoes, to name a few. A super communication and language opportunity to develop asking questions about who might wear them or where they might be worn.
