Year 4 Visit East Somerset Railway

Year Four had a fantastic day out at the East Somerset Railway in East Cranmore. Upon arrival, the children were billeted and assigned different roles for the day. Each child received an identity card, which explained who they would be living with and the job they would be doing.

Throughout the day, the group participated in a variety of engaging activities, including carefully crossing a minefield and pretending to put out a fire using a Second World War handheld pump. They explored various Second World War artefacts, including different helmets and gas masks.

The children visited the ticket office and collected their tickets for rides on both a miniature train and a steam train, which was thoroughly enjoyable. As part of their immersive experience, they wrote postcards home to their parents, describing where they had been and what they had been doing whilst being evacuated.

It was a great day!
