Year 6 Work on Settlement Hierarchy

Year 6 have been thinking about the settlement hierarchy in geography. What makes a village a village, or a town a town? It has been interesting to weigh up the benefits of categorising settlements using service provision and population. On balance, we think Castle Cary is a small town, Queen Camel is a large village, and Yeovil is a large town. So, what does that make Sherborne and Wincanton – medium-sized towns? Answers on a postcard, please!
