Reception’s creativity has been overflowing this week as we have enjoyed creating some beautiful collage bunnies, lions, seahorses and other wonderful creatures, inspired by Eric Carle. The children had to think ‘outside the box’ as they used their multicoloured collage papers to create their carefully composed artwork. We have also enjoyed seeing our caterpillars continue to grow, noting their daily changes. Inspired by this, we have been developing our knowledge of the biology of the butterfly, labelling all the different body parts, including the proboscis and thorax, in their writing. The children have truly enjoyed becoming butterfly experts, discovering many truly exciting facts. Our favourite was: butterflies don’t have eyelids as they sleep with their eyes open!
