Hazlegrove Celebrates 80th VE Day Anniversary
Hazlegrove pupils joined the nation in commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of hostilities in Europe during the Second World War. They learnt about the impact, human cost of war and celebrations in a special assembly, before gathering at the flagpole to hear the national proclamation and share prayers reflecting on the weight of the conflict and the sacrifices made by those 80 years ago and longer. The Hazlegrove community have explored their own families' roles at the time of the conflict, with their global stories shared on our huge display wall for all to see. It has been amazing to read so many incredible stories and to see how many of our ancestors were so closely intertwined with the history we study today.
