Year 2 Get to Paint Their Clay Tiles
Storm Éowyn blew in at the end of this week. It also blew us across the world to another continent. We landed in Mexico. We took a quick sightseeing tour of Mexico City, the capital and then went on to see the countryside. We stopped in the village of Tocuaro. A small village, with a pink church and much to the children’s amazement only three shops. Not a supermarket in sight! We will be looking closely at village life over the following weeks. We have been able to paint our clay tiles this week. Using metallic paints to highlight our repeating patterns and made us realise the importance of design and colour, how it can enhance our work.
We have also started to build our Tudor houses. Lots of accurate measuring was called for to ensure the façade of our Tudor homes fit together. It has been a test of our skills with a ruler and develop our understanding of the types of buildings around in London during the fire of 1666.
