Nursery Look After Punch the Monkey
We’ve been Down in the Jungle! If you can find the Nursery children hiding behind the leaves in the jungle you will see them looking after Punch our toy monkey. He is lonely and the children have shown tender understanding that he needs friends and kindness. They have been sharing the space beautifully, inviting Punch into their games, tucking him and the crocodile up into their leafy beds, and helping him feel part of the group. I am so proud of their friendship skills.
In our maths learning, we made giraffe pictures to explore shape recognition and mathematical language. The children confidently compared sizes using words such as small, tall, short, long, and longest. They also created repeated patterns using different colours - some incredible attention to detail!
Creativity has been sparkling in the classroom too. The children worked together to make some very glittery slithery snakes. They collaborated to decorate them, thoughtfully choosing sparkly tongues and googly eyes to give each snake its own personality. It was lovely to see their teamwork and decision-making skills shining through. Who knew snakes liked at least 5 pink bows!
Outside, the children are really mastering turn-taking with the bikes. We are delighted to see the Nursery children having the confidence to ask another child "Can I be next" and their peer replying "yes". This is the culture of kindness we treasure here at Hazlegrove Nursery. I am also thrilled to see how keen the children are to wear their new bike hats while zooming around — such responsible riders!
