Mr Stok Pays a Visit to Year 2

Over the past week, the children have been learning about the remarkable life and work of Mary Seacole, a pioneering nurse whose determination and compassion made a lasting impact on history. They explored her use of traditional and alternative remedies, discovering how she combined knowledge from her Jamaican heritage with practical experience to care for soldiers. The children were especially captivated by Mary’s determination to travel to the Crimea, overcoming many challenges in her mission to help those in need.

To bring this history to life, we welcomed Mr Stok for a Hands on History workshop. The children enjoyed an engaging and interactive session that allowed them to handle historical objects, role‑play and deepen their understanding of both Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale. It was a memorable experience that enriched their learning and sparked thoughtful discussion.
