Year 1 Enjoy a Trip to the Stars in the Space Dome

Year 1 have had an out‑of‑this‑world week! The highlight was undoubtedly our visit to the Space Odyssey Dome, which took the children on an incredible immersive journey into space. Inside the dome, we explored the moon’s craters, watched rockets launch into the sky, and zoomed past twinkling stars and swirling planets. The children were captivated from start to finish, asking thoughtful questions and sharing lots of ideas about space travel and what it might be like to be an astronaut.

Back in the classroom, our learning continued to soar. In Maths, the children have been working hard on adding and subtracting numbers to 20. They enjoyed using number lines, counters, and place value tools to help them solve problems, and many were excited to apply their number bond knowledge.

In Science, we took inspiration from real rocket launches and created our very own baking soda rockets. The children loved making predictions, mixing the ingredients, and watching their rockets blast off. It was a brilliant hands‑on way to explore reactions, forces, and what helps rockets lift into the air.

It has been a magical week full of curiosity, creativity, and discovery. We are so proud of how engaged and enthusiastic the children have been, what a wonderful way to ignite young imaginations!
