Reception Compare Sizes of Objects and Measure Themselves

This week, the classroom has been filled with enthusiasm as the children explored all things measure! We experimented with different forms of measurement and had lots of fun comparing the sizes of objects around our classroom, including measuring ourselves. The children also enjoyed using the iPads to complete one‑minute time challenges. Finding out how many star jumps they could do in a minute quickly turned into a lively and very giggly competition, with everyone cheering each other on.

Alongside all this mathematical fun, we spent time thinking about the real‑life superheroes in our world. The children loved discussing the people who help us every day, from police officers and firefighters to doctors, nurses, and of course, their own wonderful families. They produced some thoughtful and heartfelt writing about the superheroes they know and appreciate.

To round off our superhero topic, the children had the most incredible time at Superhero School with our fantastic PE team. They embraced their inner heroes as they climbed ropes, leapt over “buildings,” and tackled a range of exciting challenges designed to build confidence, strength, and a big sense of fun.

We are so proud of the children this term, as they have proved that not all superheroes wear capes, some wear school uniforms! The Reception team hope that you all have an amazing and safe half‑term break, and we look forward to seeing you when you return.
