Year 1 Design a way to Catch a Falling Star
This week in Year 1 we have absolutely loved exploring How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers. The children were full of imagination as they designed their own ways to catch a star, creating everything from sky scrapers and rockets to parachutes and even Santa’s sleigh. Their ideas were thoughtful, creative, and wonderfully inventive.
In Maths, we have been practising adding numbers up to 20 using a range of methods and apparatus. The children enjoyed using number lines, cubes, and counting objects, and it has been lovely to see them choosing the strategies that work best for them.
Our art sessions took us into space as we created colourful planet pictures using chalk pastels. The children blended colours beautifully and produced artwork that was out of this world. We also had great fun learning a new planet song taught by Mrs Sclater, which the children sang with excitement and enthusiasm.
It has been an enjoyable and fun week, full of progress, creativity, and exciting learning.
