Reception Set Traps for the Evil Pea!

This week has been full of creativity, problem‑solving, and lots of giggles as we set to work creating traps for the mischievous Evil Pea! The children loved designing and building their own clever contraptions to stop him in his cheeky tracks, thinking carefully about how their trap would work and what materials they might need. We were so impressed with their imaginative ideas and teamwork. Evil Pea doesn’t stand a chance now! Alongside our Supertato adventures, we explored the world of 3D shapes through building towers and cities. The children had great fun investigating cubes, cones, cylinders, and spheres, talking about their names and properties as they experimented with stacking and stability. There was lots of brilliant vocabulary and plenty of “I wonder what will happen if…” moments as their towers grew taller and wobblier! We also got creative in Art by making our own vegetable faces, inspired by the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. The children absolutely loved arranging vegetables into expressive faces and noticing how everyday foods can be transformed into artwork. Their finished pieces are wonderfully colourful and full of character.
