Nursery Get Stuck Into Sing-A-Longs
This week, Nursery has been filled with music, motivation, and many proud moments for the children. Our days have been full of singing, with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Humpty Dumpty being top of the Nursery charts! We have also enjoyed a few Lion King sing-a-longs in the mornings, which have been a lovely way to help the children settle in calmly and happily as they start their day. These musical moments have all come from the children’s interests and using what they love to support other areas of learning, such as communication, listening skills, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
Inspired by Madam Dragon from Zog and her words, “Now that you’ve been shown, you can practise on your own,” we have also introduced a new confidence-building activity this week. The children began by making their own golden stars, which they then earn by practising important everyday skills. These include putting on their coats and shoes, washing their hands thoroughly, joining in with our Choo Choo train, and eating independently using a fork and spoon. We have been encouraging the children to understand that these stars are for trying, not for completing the task. It has been truly lovely to see the positive impact this has had on their confidence and self-esteem as they take pride in having a go, spur each other on and celebrate their efforts.
