Reception Rescue Vegetables From the Evil Pea

This week began with a very mysterious scene in Mrs Sheldon’s classroom. The children arrived to find vegetables plastered to tables, a pepper stuck to the back of the door, and a trail of suspicious footprints leading all the way to the window. The classroom was in chaos; so, of course, our young detectives got straight to work! After reading the story 'Supertato', the children quickly realised who the culprit behind the chaos must be… the EVIL PEA! There was great excitement as the children pieced together the clues and confirmed their suspicions. To help track him down after his daring escape, the children created brilliant ‘Wanted’ posters. They were all very determined to bring the Evil Pea to justice! Inspired by the story, the children also designed and made their very own vegetable superheroes. Using a variety of vegetables, they added capes, masks, belts and other heroic accessories. It was wonderful to see their ideas come to life. In maths, the children have been working hard to explore different ways of making 6, 7 and 8. They have been using number bonds and reversals of sums to deepen their understanding of number composition. It has been lovely to see many children beginning to record their ideas in written form with growing confidence
