Lower School Production of The Selfish Giant

The Year 3 and Year 4 production of Oscar Wilde’s The Selfish Giant was a truly wonderful celebration of storytelling, teamwork and confidence. The children performed with maturity, enthusiasm and a clear understanding of the powerful message at the heart of Wilde’s story.

The Year 4 pupils were outstanding in their speaking roles. They learned their lines thoroughly and delivered them with impressive projection and clarity. Their voices were strong and audible, and they performed with real focus and energy throughout rehearsals and the final two performances. It was a joy to watch their confidence grow as they brought their characters to life so convincingly.

Year 3 were equally impressive, contributing beautifully through their singing and movement. Their discipline and concentration were exceptional, particularly during the scene changes as they transformed the set to represent the different seasons. Their movements were purposeful and well timed, adding real magic and atmosphere to the production.

A huge thank you must go to Mrs Sclater, Mrs Moore and Miss Rudd for the fantastic singing and choreography. The musical elements added depth and emotion to the performance and showcased the children’s talents wonderfully.

As a Lower School, the children were simply incredible. They clearly understood the moral message of The Selfish Giant and retold Wilde’s story with charm, warmth and sincerity. Their commitment, focus and joy in performing shone through every moment of the play.

I am immensely proud of every child involved. They worked so hard, supported one another and delivered a performance full of heart, a true testament to their confidence and creativity.
