Nursery Enjoy Imaginative Arctic Play
We have had a wonderful week in Nursery, full of meaningful learning experiences and heart-warming moments. One of our highlights this week has been the children practising using confident voices to say “please” and “thank you.” The sense of pride on their faces when they remember to use their manners is a joy to see. Other children see the positive responses they receive from adults and start to use their confident voices too. These moments play an important role in developing their communication skills and self-esteem.
The children have also enjoyed exploring the Arctic in our tuff tray, playing with icebergs and engaging in imaginative, sensory play. This sparked lots of curiosity, discussion and descriptive language as they explored the environment together. In PE, the children have begun learning how to play Duck, Duck, Goose. They are developing turn-taking skills, listening carefully and following simple rules while building confidence in their physical movement.
We were especially proud of the children’s kindness and concern for the school rabbits this week. The children wondered whether they would be okay in the rain. To show their care, we brought in carrots for them, which the children were delighted to help cut up and take to the rabbits. This was a lovely example of empathy and compassion in action.
Over the next two weeks, we will be focusing on number and shape. The children will be developing their number recognition, sequencing and grouping skills, as well as using mathematical language such as more, less, bigger and smaller through play-based activities and shape hunts outside and indoors. This will help build strong early maths foundations in a fun and engaging way.
