Year 2 are Already Showing Lots of Curiosity and Enthusiasm

It was lovely to welcome all the children back to school! I hope you all had a happy and restful Christmas. They have settled in beautifully, and it has been lovely to see so many smiling faces as we start our new term together.

This term, our new topic will be The Great Fire of London, and the children are already showing lots of curiosity and enthusiasm. Through this engaging historical topic, we will be learning about life in London in 1666, how the fire started, how it spread, and how the city changed afterwards. The topic provides a wonderful opportunity to develop the children’s understanding of the past, while also encouraging discussion, creativity and imagination.

We will be exploring the story of the fire through a variety of activities, including storytelling, artwork and simple historical enquiry. There will be plenty of chances for the children to ask questions, share their ideas and make links with their learning in other areas of the curriculum.
