Year 1 Think Owls are Awesome

This week, Year 1 proved that owls are awesome by creating their very own non-fiction books using generalisers to begin their sentences. The children explored fascinating owl facts from different sources, including all the facts learnt from our owl visitors last week.

In maths, we have been building strong foundations by calculating number bonds. Using hands-on apparatus and visual supports, the children are developing a solid understanding of how pairs of numbers work together.

Our art sessions were a real treat! The children created beautiful pastel owl drawings. Year 1 used smudging techniques to create feathery textures and camouflage effects. Some wonderful masterpieces have been created!

This week, Year 1 have also explored different types of weather and discovered what makes each season unique. We look forward to more discussions on this next week.
