Reception Enjoy Story of 'Leaf Man'
Our week in Reception has been filled with all things related to Harvest and Autumn. The children were incredible in our Harvest celebration on Wednesday, and we were so proud of their confidence and enthusiasm! An Autumn walk on a beautiful Tuesday morning filled the children with a sense of how the season impacts on both the flora and fauna around us at school. They collected leaves of many colours and enjoyed watching the squirrels busy burying nuts for the Winter. It prompted discussions on hibernation and how the trees and bushes dispersed their seeds and why some lose their leaves whilst other do not. In the classroom we have been enjoying the beautifully illustrated story of ‘Leaf Man’ by Elois Ehlert. The children have been inspired to create pictures of animals using leaves and to use their imaginations to think where he might travel next. It was wonderful to share this with parents at our open classroom on Friday, drawing new locations and describing where the wind has blown him.
