Year 7 River Dart Trip 2025

Our recent residential trip to Dartmoor was an unforgettable experience for our Year 7s, filled with adventure, teamwork, and personal growth. Everyone took part in exciting activities including kayaking, high ropes, crate stacking, caving, raft building, walking on Dartmoor, climbing on Leigh Tor and zip lining. Each challenge helped build determination, empathy, and teamwork, with pupils showing great support for one another.

The group  embodied our school values of #HazlegroveRespect, #HazlegroveKindness, and #HazlegroveCourage, whether encouraging friends on the high ropes or helping each other through the caves. The whole year group were brilliant, making the most of the opportunities and challenges that they were faced with, getting wet, muddy and entering into the spirit of adventure. Organisation was impressive too, managing their kit, preparing for wet activities, and keeping the dorms inspection ready.

Evenings were just as memorable, featuring night walks, a fun and very competitive orienteering competition, a lively campfire night with singing and marshmallow toasting, and the wonderful adventure play.

It was wonderful to see new friendships forming and the way the year group pulled together so positively was heartwarming. Throughout the week, everyone demonstrated resilience, curiosity, and a real love of the outdoors. It was a fantastic week in the heart of Dartmoor, full of laughter, learning and lasting memories
