Year 1 Show Storytelling Skills

Year 1 had an exciting time innovating the classic tale of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. The children showcased their incredible storytelling skills by creating their own imaginative versions, including The Three Crocodiles GruffThe Three Baboons GruffThe Three T-Rexes Roar, and of course, The Three Polar Bears Gruff. Retelling these stories to their friends brought lots of laughter and joy!

In maths, we explored counting forwards and backwards using both numbers and words. The children used a variety of practical resources to deepen their understanding and ensure the concepts were secure. They even designed their own number challenges for their classmates to solve, what a brilliant way to learn through play!

Science was a sensory adventure! We investigated our five senses through smell and taste tests and even created moving skeletons by linking science with design technology. Using split pins, the children assembled jointed body parts to bring their skeletons to life. Our walk around the school with maps helped us learn more about our surroundings and local area.

A special highlight was Friday’s visit from a guide dog, which gave us a deeper understanding of the sense of sight and what life might be like without it. The children were fascinated and asked thoughtful questions.

After such a busy and enriching week, we had lots of happy, but very tired, children by Friday afternoon!
