Hazlegrove Pupils Love Their New Library
The beautifully transformed library has had the pupils and staff alike very excited this week. The calming and inviting space will be used for a number of different purposes by the pupils.
As well as the new-look round tables, which lend themselves brilliantly to group discussions in PSHE lessons, the newly exposed fireplace has been one of the features children have enthusiastically commented on, while sitting around it on the new cushions and beanbags.
All pupils have a weekly library lesson, during which they have a chance to peruse the huge variety of genres, share recommendations, independently read and quiz. All the while, adding to their reading word count to becoming a reading millionaire, or the hotly contested class and house reading competitions.
Other activities in the library include the reading of class set text, the 'Hazlegrove Authors' and ‘Hazlegrove Herald' after-school clubs, and a quiet space for pupils when it is needed.
A few quotes from our Hazlegrove Pupils:
"I think the new library is really pretty because of the plants and the colour." Emily M
"I really like the changes in the library and it's great they have got new beanbags! It's a really comfortable environment." Alec MF
"I really enjoy reading in the library - it's a very relaxing space." Arthur W
