Year 1 Measure their Beanstalks

Our Year 1 classroom was taken over by pesky seagulls as we dove into the story of “ The Lighthouse Kepper Lunch” with poor Mr. Grinling, whose lunch was brazenly stolen by three cheeky seagulls named Fred, Bert, and Tom. We had a blast retelling the tale with lively actions and creating our own revolting sandwiches to trick the seagulls.

In maths, we had a fantastic time measuring our towering bean stalks and recording the data on colourful pictograms. We also practiced making half and quarter turns, both clockwise and anticlockwise with our meerkats, which was a lot of fun! We have been watching with fascination as we watched our bean stalks grow and grow.

Our artistic skills were put to the test as we sketched beautiful lighthouses, and we can't wait to create an amazing moving picture next week. The highlight of our week was the "Moving Up" afternoon, where we excitedly visited the Year 2 classroom and got to know our new teacher. It was an adventure we won't forget!
