Nursery Investigate the Lifecycle of a Butterfly
This week, Nursery have enjoyed the final week of their 'Jungle’ topic. We have been reading the story, 'Monkey Puzzle' by Julia Donaldson, linking this not only into jungle animals but, also to life cycles of animals and humans. The children have loved looking at photos from when they were babies and thinking about how they changed and what they have learnt since then. They then painted self-portraits, thinking about the different colours needed for their facial features. We have also been talking about how we change from when we are in our Mummy’s tummy, all the way up to when we become old.
The children have been investigating the life cycle of butterflies, they practised their shape recognition when printing symmetrical patterns with blocks and paints. They were very excited to observe a real butterfly emerging from its chrysalis.
At the end of week, we celebrated the end of our topic with a monkey favourite, bananas on the campfire, with a little chocolate treat inside.
