Year 5 Visit Montacute House

The Year 5 trip to The National Trust’s stunning Montacute House was magical. Set against the backdrop of the majestic Tudor manor and its beautifully kept gardens, pupils had the unique opportunity to bring Shakespeare to life in the historical grounds.

Performing a specially adapted version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Year 5 were fabulous. The gardens echoed with laughter, magic and marvellous acting as the children embraced the chance to perform in the open air. It was an extraordinary setting for a play filled with fairies, trees and fantastical mischief.

The pupils were not only brilliant in their roles, but they also thrived in the outdoor setting — projecting their voices confidently, adapting to the environment and working together as a true ensemble. The historic surroundings added to the sense of occasion and wonder, making the performance very special.

Staff, visiting parents, and National Trust visitors alike were full of praise for the children’s energy, enthusiasm and clear enjoyment of the experience. The afternoon was a celebration of creativity, history and teamwork.

It was a real treat — and one that will no doubt live long in the memories of all involved. Bravo, Year 5! I am so looking forward to their performances next week.
